Day 7: Kinze Manufacturing by Sean

Today, June 12, we visited the Kinze Manufacturing plant, which is a tractor implement company that specializes in grain carts and seed planters. Grain carts are used when farmers harvest their crops like corn and soybeans. The seed planters' plant multiple rows of crops at once using GPS for precise accuracy. They also sell a soil till to prep soil for the crop season.

Today we got to learn how the company got started back in 1965 and that Mr. Kinze started in a welding shop building things for local farmers. The company also gave us a tour of their factory to show us how the grain carts are built. This is their grain cart season since all the crops have been planted and will be harvested in the fall when they switch over to building seeders in August.

This factory has 30 acres under roof and 820 employees. They also have a majority of robotic welders to make all the welds on all the equipment uniform. This facility also has multi ton steel presses, laser cutters and mile long powder coat lines. In 2018 Kinze Manufacturing opened their own electronics department so they didn't have to rely on other companies' technology. This was an eye opening experience.
